About Felipe

Felipe Guz Tinôco is a Brazilian self-taught guitarist most interested in Jazz and Latin Music.

His interest in music started when he was still a child, mostly given by his family's influence and love for music - especially for Choro, Jazz, and Bossa. Felipe fell in love with guitars, and started studying the instrument, music theory, and improvisation on his own.

In 2007 Tinôco went to the United States as an exchange student, and ended his junior year in high school in Michigan. There, Felipe went deeper into Jazz and into the development of his improvisational skills. After Felipe came back to his hometown, in Brazil, he emphasized his ear training taking advantage of his perfect pitch, as he entered in the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte School of Music.

Later on, he applied to colleges in the U.S. for his undergraduate studies, and succeeded. Felipe was accepted and scholarship awarded to Berklee College of Music, Hofstra University, City University of New York (CUNY), and University of Louisville.
Nowadays Felipe is majoring in Guitar Performance at Berklee College of Music, located in Boston, Massachusetts - the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world.
